Tummy Stuffers Review

If your kiddos watch any television you can bet they have seen the commercials for such Jay at Play collections like HideAway Pets, J-Animals and of course Tummy Stuffers. My daughter Penelope fell in love with Tummy Stuffers from the first day she saw them on TV and has been asking me for one ever since. Can you believe just a few weeks ago I was asked to review a Tummy Stuffer? I couldn't believe it, after hearing so much about them from my daughter. I was pretty excited to let her know we would be receiving a Tummy Stuffer for review. I even let her pick the one she wanted. She decided on the Cat from their all new Wild Ones collection.

Tummy Stuffers are furry plush pals that double as the cleverest and cuddliest clean-up containers a kid could ever love! Terrific for helping children of all ages keep their bedrooms, playrooms and even camp bunks neat and tidy, Tummy Stuffers’ mouths open wide to keep kids’ things inside – and they “eat” everything right before their eyes! The brand-new Tummy Stuffers Wild Ones line-up features six fun and funky styles, including a spotted Dalmatian and Blue Leopard, polka-dotted Bunny and Giraffe, purple and pink striped Cat, and awesome argyle Monkey! Kids and tweens can store it all in the new Tummy Stuffers Wild Ones, from clothing and toys, to blankets, books and much more!

Penelope was so excited to finally meet her Tummy Stuffer and guess what the first thing she did was? Walk around the house feeding anything she could find to her new kitty. She hid the remote, my camera, several pens, my sunglasses, a pair of socks and more inside her kitty's tummy. For the first couple of days I knew when I couldn't find something, that my sneaky little girl and her hungry stuffed cat were the culprits. She has since stopped hiding my stuff but uses her Tummy Stuffer to collect her toys from around the house when I tell her it's chore time. She then carries her fat cat up to her room and puts her stuff away where it belongs. Tummy Stuffers makes clean up fun!

Order your Tummy Stuffers online. It will make a great birthday present or a special surprise for any child.

Lost Things Designs Review and Giveaway

Closed
Winner #14

I am pretty excited to share this company with you. First, because their products are one of a kind, full of creativity, and just plain awesome. Second, our very own Girly Girl Tracy happens to be one of the owners along with my other good friend, also named Tracy.

It all started with an old wooden boat, two stay-at-home moms (who both happen to be named Tracy), and a, “Why not?”

Lost Things Designs was started in 2012 in Homer, Alaska as a creative outlet for Tracy Hansen and Tracy Early. They specialize in reclaimed wood signs and home furnishings. Their signs are mostly sold at local craft fairs, local stores, and by custom order direct to customers. Many of their designs can be seen on their Facebook page, and orders can be placed through that site via private message. These ladies are artists! Not only do they create whimsical, witty and gorgeous signs to add to your homes décor but they also make one of a kind pieces and furniture, like this attractive and functional tray.

Or this unique "Emma Country Desk".

You really have to take a look at the photos of all their art on their Facebook page. Tracy and Tracy put so much time and imagination into their work even while being devoted wives and full time mothers to little ones. They are simply put "hard workers". I have no doubt that the little company, started in a little seaside in town in Alaska ,will find their pieces filling homes all over the globe.

I currently have three Lost Things Designs signs. The first one I purchased while still living in Homer.

It is the "Happy Girls are the Prettiest" sign from the picture above and sits on the windowsill of my daughters bathroom. The second one is this "I Love You Because..." chalkboard sign.

My husband and I use it to remind ourselves why we love each other. This one I purchased since moving from Alaska and it was shipped to me and arrived carefully to my front door.

My most recent sign and my fave thus far is this one...

This "Good Day Sunshine" sign was custom made for me. I emailed Tracy my wants and desires and she presented me with my vision.

EarZings Review and Giveaway

Closed
Winner #7

My six year old daughter Penelope is a girly girl. She loves to accessorize her fancy dresses with jewelry. She does not have her ears pierced so I bought her some sticker earrings awhile back but they are constantly falling off and lately she has started to ask for real earrings. EarZings are the  perfect accessory for little girls who do not have their ears pierced yet. They look like real earrings but they are pierce free.

Instead they have a coil that fits snug around an earlobe all day. You can view the step -by- step instructions on how to wear EarZings here.

EarZings come in a variety of styles from fancy gems to cute cupcakes. My daughter was so excited when I showed her the collection and told her she could pick out any pair that she wanted. She settled on these Riley EarZings.

When her little puppy earrings finally came she was eager to get them on her ears. She asked if she could try and do it first but unfortunately she had trouble getting them on herself. I was able to put them on her ears after a couple of failed attempts. Just a warning, if you put these on wrong they do pinch and feel uncomfortable. It may take a couple of tries. Penelope loves her EarZings and is already asking for another pair. You can purchase them online for only $14.95 per pair.

Want to win a pair of EarZings?

To Enter: Leave me a comment telling me which style you prefer. Choose wisely because these will be the ones you receive should you happen to win. You can get extra entries for following GGG through GFC, Subscribing via email, liking us on Facebook and following via Twitter.

This giveaway will end on August 11, 2014. I will choose the winner using Random.org. Please leave a valid email address if it is not visible in your profile. US entries only.

Sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash Review

Girly Girl Giveaways have reviewed Sebamed products in the past and have grown to love and trust them. Recently I was introduced to yet another one of their products, Sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash.

This 2-in-1 wash is formulated for sensitive skin. It is free of parabens and is 100% soap and alkali free. Just like other Sebamed products this one was also made to have a PH of 5.5, the same PH as healthy skin!

This is essential in maintaining your skin's natural hydrolipid barrier against environmental stress. Any other pH level, such as found in soap may leave your skin open to break-down and deterioration.

I was using this stuff on a daily basis, it does a great job at removing makeup. Then my husband got his hands on it and decided he needed to take it to work with him! He has really sensitive skin and many bath products cause him to break out in a rash or dry his skin out. Not Sebamed, this actually helps his skin from drying out in the cold Alaska air where he works. I would recommend this for anyone, whether you have sensitive skin or not.

The people at Sebamed also have a great tip for summer they would like to share with all you Girly Girls. With the heat index rising you are probably exposing a lot more skin. But there is one part of your body that often gets overlooked. Can you guess what it is?

Armpits! The mindless daily shave and quick roll of deodorant steal 50 percent of moisture from skin and wreak havoc on underarm’s delicate pH balance, causing problems like dryness, redness, bumps and itchiness. Constant irritation also exacerbates hyperpigmentation, which is one cause of darkened armpits.

Fortunately, pits aren’t picky. Spending just 60 seconds on this easy, three-step routine from

Sebamed can keep underarm’s pH in check for a worry-free, comfortable day:

·         Gently Cleanse with a Soap-Free Wash: Using your hands or a gentle microfiber cloth, cleanse the underarms with an ultra-mild wash like Sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash. The soap-free formula deep cleanses while naturally conditioning and restoring skin to the ideal pH 5.5, and using your hands or a soft cloth instead of a loofah helps protect skin’s delicate barrier. ($19.95 for 400mL, SebamedUSA.com)
·         Consciously Rinse and Pat Dry: Most of us forget to completely rinse and dry this area, causing water and cleansing residue to linger under the arms for unwanted itchiness. Instead of rubbing harshly with a towel, gently pat skin dry, which is much less abrasive.
·         Swipe on Sensitive Skin Deodorant: Many deodorants are based on harsh chemicals. Look for one made with balsam, a common hydrating oil that’s plant derived and soothing on sensitive skin. Apply one thin, even layer to the full area of the armpit (about a three-inch circle) using a gentle, single up-and-down swipe.

You can purchase this and all other Sebamed products online or by checking out their store locator to find a retailer near you.

Break up with your Makeup Mirvaso Sweepstakes and Cetaphil Giveaway

Winner #33

Although I have other skin issues I do not suffer from the redness caused by rosacea. I do however have a sister in law and good friend who do. I have heard many a complaint from them about their skin and how annoyed they are with it. Unfortunately many products that claim to help don't and there is only so much makeup can do.

Mirvaso is the first and only prescription treatment specifically designed to treat frequent redness caused by rosacea.  Mirvaso works fast and will not just conceal your skins redness but will alleviate the problem for up to 12 hours. No more cake-y makeup face!

Here are some other skincare tips to help get some relief:

1. Skin with rosacea is more sensitive and likely to react to ingredients in both prescription medications and skin care products, so talk to your dermatologist about what options are best for you. Moisturizers containing lipids, such as ceramides, are usually well tolerated and can improve the skin barrier, which is often compromised in people with this condition.

2. It's a fact that daily sunscreen is a must, but not all sunscreens are created equal. Not only are some better than others, but many contain ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin with rosacea. The best bets if you are prone to rosacea, are sunscreens that contain transparent zinc oxide and moisturizing ingredients, like niacinamide, and are fragrance- free and non-comedogenic.

3. It may sound basic but not getting enough sleep can make you look older because sleep is when your body repairs itself. Alcohol, sugary foods and processed foods can affect the skin’s ability to repair itself and cause premature skin aging, so try to eat a balanced diet and indulge rarely. For the occasional late night out, alternate a glass of water or carbonated water with every alcoholic beverage.

In order to help raise awareness about this new FDA approved treatment Mirvaso is hosting the Break up with you Makeup Sweepstakes.
Enter by clicking the banner above to win a trip to the Emmy's!

In addition I have been allowed to host a giveaway for one Girly Girl reader! One of you lucky gals will win a gift basket filled with Cetaphil goodies. These products are gentle and non irritating, great for those of us that suffer from skin problems. The basket will include:

·        Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
·        Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths
·        Cetaphil RestoraDerm Skin Restoring Body Wash
·        Cetpahil RestoraDerm Skin Restoring Moisturizer
·        Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15

To Enter: Leave me a comment telling me one of your biggest skin concerns. My skin is prone to breakouts. UGH! You can get extra entries for following GGG through GFC, Subscribing via email, liking us on Facebook and following via Twitter.

This giveaway will end on July 17, 2014. I will choose the winner using Random.org. Please leave a valid email address if it is not visible in your profile. US entries only.

The New Braiding Handbook Review

When I learned about The New Braiding Handbook: 60 Modern Twists on the Classic Hairstyles, I was pretty excited to get my hands on it. My daughter Penelope has long straight hair and I have always wanted to learn how to create those beautiful braids and twists I see on other little girls hair. I have not had long hair since I was about eight so I never really learned how to create anything beyond a simple braid. The New Braiding Handbook features step by step photos and easy to follow instructions to help you achieve some gorgeous hairstyles like Fishtail Bun, Twisted Bohemian Updo, French Braided Pompadour, Celtic Knot, Topsy Tail High Bun and so much more. One of my favorites in the book is the Waterfall Braid featured on the cover.

Here is another look, how pretty is this? Now I wish I had long hair! Here is step by step instructions on how to create this lovely look.

Waterfall Braid

Basic steps: Braid, transfer left and middle sections into your top hand, and drop the bottom piece. Replace the bottom piece with a new section. Braid the new bottom piece over the middle and repeat.

1. Start with a simple three-strand braid near your part: bottom section over middle and top section over middle.

2. Transfer the top and middle sections into your top hand and let that bottom section fall.

3. Next to the section you just dropped and right under the two sections you’re holding in your top hand, gather a brand new section to braid with. Look at my bottom hand, that is a brand new section. We simply dropped the original and are gathering a new bottom section to use.

4. Gather all three sections in your top hand, braid the new bottom section over the middle, and then transfer all three sections into your bottom hand with the top section in between your index finger and thumb.

5. Start adding in new hair
up top like you would a regular French Braid. Add hair to that top section. Braid it over the middle and transfer the left and middle sections into your top hand.

6. Drop that bottom piece.

7. Add in a new section of hair to replace the dropped bottom piece.

8. Repeat steps 5–7.

9. Once you’ve wrapped the braid around your crown, you can either secure it by sliding in a bobby pin or braiding it down and securing it with a clear elastic band.

Of course when you purchase the book you will also get step by step photos to go along with these instructions as well as tips to help you achieve your new do. I attempted to create several hairstyles on my daughters hair but alas she is 6 years old, fidgety and probably has the most sensitive scalp around. She insisted that I was hurting hair and taking way too long. I managed to finish a couple of the easier styles on her hair, albeit messy and not picture worthy  but I am hoping we can get some hairstyles down for the coming new school year. Who knows I may even decide to let my hair grow out.

You can purchase The New Braiding Handbook on amazon.
