Exergen Temporal Scanner Review and Giveaway

CLOSED
Winner- #75 Nikki

One of the things I remember having issues with when Penelope was a baby was taking her temperature. If you are the mother of an infant you know how hard it can be to check if your little one is running a fever. As I am sure many moms are I was uncomfortable with taking a rectal temperature and taking an oral temperature on a baby that is not feeling well and is fussy and crying is virtually impossible. So, I opted for the underarm method, but I was never really confident that I was getting an accurate reading, and with baby squirming about and trying to keep flailing arms down making sure she wasn't burning up was a pretty difficult task. When I heard about the Exergen TemporalScanner my first thought was "if I only I knew about this three years ago". Then I learned that it could be used on infants, children and adults, that it is one of the most accurate ways to test for fever and, that it displays results in just 2 seconds! Well I just had to get my hands on one of these.

The Exergen TemporalScanner infrared thermometer is an easy and less invasive way to read temperature. "It gauges body temperature in just two seconds by capturing the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery, which runs across the forehead and is directly connected to the heart via the carotid artery". It is also better for the environment. Since it uses infrared sensor technology it does not contain mercury, like traditional glass bulb thermometers. You also do not need to worry about the cleanliness factor with this thermometer.

As soon as I received my Exergen TemporalScanner for review in the mail I was very eager to test it out. After quickly reading the instructions I thought "well that's easy". The scanner runs on a 9 volt battery that is included and easily inserted. You remove the transparent protective cap, hold the thermometer with thumb positioned over the SCAN button and place probe flat on center of forehead. You then press and hold the SCAN button while you lightly slide the thermometer from the center of the forehead to the hairline. A red light will flash and emit a beep during scan letting you know the temperature is being read. Once you reach the hairline you release the SCAN button and remove the thermometer and the temperature will display on the screen. It's that easy! I tested it out on Penelope several times waiting 30 seconds before scanning each time and each time her temp read 98.6 degrees. I then tried it on myself but I have to admit I had a much harder time trying to take my own temperature. My temperature read differently each time ranging from 96.1 to 99.1. I think it has to do with the fact that I am pretty uncoordinated and I kept pressing or depressing the SCAN button either too early or too late. It's probably better to have someone take your temperature for you then do it yourself. Let me tell you, I am so happy with this product. Not only will I be prepared the next time someone in my household is sick but I am confident that I will be able to accurately tell if they are running a favor and be able to treat it accordingly. I think the Exergen TemporalScanner is a must have for every family and it is definitely a must have for any family with an infant. In fact if you or someone you know is expecting this would make the best baby shower gift. You can purchase online
or at several stores nationwide including; Walmart, Babies R US, Costco, and Walgreens to name a few.
